Biography
Dr. Bryan Balmadrid is a UW clinical assistant professor of gastroenterology and director of endoscopy at Harborview Medical Center specializing in advanced endoscopic procedures. In addition to board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology, he received additional specialized training in advanced endoscopic procedures which include endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and balloon enteroscopy. He specializes in direct endoscopic necrosectomy of pancreas necrosis and pancreaticobiliary trauma. He also offers standard endoscopic procedures such as upper endoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy. He is centered at Harborview Medical Center but also takes care of patients at University of Washington Medical Center and University of Washington Eastside Clinic. He also serves as the UW Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program director.
 
He has studied and trained in a variety of places starting at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for his honors bachelor's in science. He received his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Then he chose Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana for his internal medicine residency. There, he was selected to be the chief resident. He continued with his gastroenterology training at Duke in Durham, North Carolina. Finally, he completed his advanced endoscopy training in Virginia Mason in Seattle.
